Yarnstorming in the Library

Happy Yarnbombing Day! My local library (Walkinstown in Dublin 12) got yarnstormed! I couldn't be there for the decoration (I was in Germany) but my friend and I went for a walk today to have a look at the 'Garden of Imagination':

The tree is just amazing! With grass, with an apple and worms, leaves (so many leaves!) and flowers and there's a mouse in the grass!
I love the owls! Such a simple idea and so effective!
The socks are from me.
Go Ireland!

New Youtube Video

I just made this video, about the red stocking I knitted a few days ago.

Otherwise I'm getting ready for travelling back to Ireland, and on the day of the Ireland match in the Euro, of all days.

Entertainment

My holidays are almost over, so I'm looking back at the books I've read:

Helen Moorhouse: The dead summer
I finished this book on the plane. It was a good read, lots of ghost activity. A bit like 'ghost hunters' on tv, where they come with their equipment and measure activity. It seems to be the first in a series by this Irish author.

Jennifer Donnelly: Die Wildrose (The Wild Rose)
The third book after the Tea Rose and the Winter Rose, it's about the thrid sibling, Seamus. I have only started it.

Dagmar Trodler: Die Waldgraefin
It didn't hold my attention, I will give it another try after I finished the Wild Rose.

Tatort Franken No. 3
I got this regional crime novel collection as an early birthday present from my mother. She was very much interested in the one story written by my former English teacher who also lives in the area and apparently included tales of the town in the story.

I also watched lots of Criminal Minds during the last few days, I'm in season 5 now.

My Sock Drawer (in Germany)

Etsy has a new feature, you can add info in and "About You" section. I decided to include a picture of the socks I knitted for myself, over the years. Of course, I moved to Ireland six years ago, so some of my socks came with me, and I knitted new ones in Ireland, but these here are the ones I have left in Germany:

It's 50 pairs exactly! The first three are from my grandmother, the large stocking at the bottom right is for sale on Etsy.

My complete "about" page can be found here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/Gigi82Knits/about/

New Listing: Merry Xmas Stocking

I enjoy knitting Christmas Stockings, so today I finished the second in one week. Since I'm on holidays and didn't bring my usual yarn with me, I couldn't do any custom orders (and I didn't want to). So I created a completely new colour combination: Dark and lighter grey with blue and red.

At my parent's house there are beautiful places to take pictures, but there's always background:

Since Etsy prefers the white background, I'll go with the first picture. But I'm also leaving the last picture in the listings, though the stocking isn't very visible. It's a great way to hang a stocking in winter. My mother already agreed to give out my business cards to anyone who compliments her on the stocking I will knit for her. So much to do, so little time.

The stocking can be bought and further admired here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/101521156/knitted-christmas-stocking-grey-with

Shopping Trips

I'm currently on vacation/ visiting my parents in rural Germany. One of the highlights is going shopping. I never had any money when I was younger and still lived in Germany, so now when I come back I tend to go a little over the top.

I bought these things on Monday: 2 skirts, a few shirts, t-shirts, pair of jeans.

These are today's purchases. The sudden warm weather (=not cold) in Ireland had me panicked. I only have a few summer outfits.

For lunch we had a huge giant pizza! It didn't even fit on the plate, the two almost didn't fit on the table! Sure enough, we couldn't finish them all. But they were delicious:

No dog text message today, but I have a few more for the rest of the week ;)

Christmas in June

I made great progress on my "Merry Xmas" stocking, it's finished! I even photographed the finished one, but I'm visible in the reflection of the door, so I'll probably take the picture again.

The stocking will be for sale in my Etsy shop soon: http://www.etsy.com/shop/Gigi82Knits

Introduction

I'm starting this blog as an experiment to see if I like it or not, basically. I'm not big into writing and promoting myself, so I'll probably end up posting lots of pictures.

My nickname is Gigi, I'm 29 and I live in Dublin, Ireland. I'm from Germany originally and often visit. I'm currently back in Germany for the week, doing lots of shopping and lots of knitting, some for my Etsy shop (http://www.etsy.com/shop/Gigi82Knits), some for myself, this is my work in progress for the week:

Red: Christmas stocking "Merry Xmas" red with blue, white and black, Purple: Pair of regular socks, Turquoise: Cable V-Neck Sweater
